House Nine Collaboration

We’re excited to partner with House Nine Design, a long-standing Chaunceys customer, to create a collection of two prefinished engineered oak floors: Buttered Toast and Burnt Toast. We paired our naturally warm and durable European oak planks with timeless, tailored finishes, both designed to provide the foundations for enduring, inviting interiors.

The Brief: Warm, Textured & Timeless

Our finishes have always played a key role in delighting our customers, and House Nine have used our high-quality boards and finishes from the beginning. Jojo wanted to offer House Nine customers affordable, sustainably sourced engineered oak floors that she could rely on.

Tailoring the colour and texture to meet Jojo’s vision, Chaunceys produced a light-toned oak finish with a gently brushed texture and plenty of natural charm. She called it Buttered Toast — an excellent name, whichever way you slice it (sorry, we couldn’t resist).

The collection has now grown. Burnt Toast takes the same board and brushed texture and pushes the colour darker and richer, giving the House Nine Collection a second option for anyone after more depth and contrast underfoot.

The Result: Buttered Toast & Burnt Toast

Introducing Buttered Toast and Burnt Toast — both created on our H9 Engineered Oak boards (in Character grade with a medium-brushed texture), sourced from sustainably managed European oak, and held in stock prefinished — so lead times are short and the price stays accessible.

Designed by Jojo Barr of House Nine and produced at our Bristol finishing workshop, both finishes are available to buy online now, with delivery in 7–10 days.
