The Making of Buttered Toast: House Nine’s New Oak Flooring Range

We’ve partnered with House Nine Design to create bespoke oak flooring that is both elegant and liveable, encompassing the classic House Nine look.

A long-standing customer of ours, House Nine’s Jojo Barr worked closely with us to create a timeless, high-quality prefinished oak floor.

The naturally warm and durable European oak mixed with this uplifting House Nine finish provides the perfect blank canvas to build upon.

The Brief: Warm, Textured & Timeless

Chaunceys’ finishes have always played a key role in delighting our customers, and House Nine have used our highest quality boards and finishes from the beginning. Jojo wanted to offer House Nine customers an affordable, sustainably sourced engineered oak floor that she could rely on.

Part of Jojo’s vision was to bring Chaunceys’ beautiful finishes to clients who were working to the tighter end of project budgets. With this in mind, the Buttered Toast finish is not only available on our Bristol Tectonic® oak boards but also on a new 12mm engineered oak board that has a 4mm FSC-certified oak wear layer, offering customers great value for money.

The Result: Buttered Toast

Tailoring the colour and texture to meet Jojo’s vision for an inviting, versatile, light-toned oak floor with plenty of natural charm, Chaunceys produced a finish that ticked all the boxes. And she called it Buttered Toast — an excellent name, whichever way you slice it (sorry, couldn’t resist).

The mellow, comforting tones and gently brushed texture of Buttered Toast is the perfect choice for creating an inviting interior space, with beautiful light oak flooring that will stand the test of time.
