Deep Smoked

Our Deep Smoked Oak is taken through a fuming process that darkens the wood and brings out the grain pattern. This process is applied to unfinished raw oak because of the high tannin content of oak. Other wood species can also go through this process but they will not darken to the same extent. Smoking oak as opposed to staining is permanent and does not obscure the grain. The grain is darkened and thus highlighted with smoked oak whereas staining or finishing tends to equalise the contrast between the grain and the wood. If you are looking for a less rustic and more uniform look we suggest opting for a pre-finished floor.
