Legacy Oak

These solid oak boards were rescued from disused railway carriages in France and Belgium. The tough timbers are available unprocessed as original-faced boards, weathered, and scarred from years of service on Europe’s railways.

We recommend adding a fine-brushed texture and reviving them with hardwax oil to create sustainably sourced industrial-style cladding steeped in history. These boards can also be hit-and-miss planed, then hardwax oiled to bring to life the contrast between the oak’s warm honey tones and dark knots, cracks, and bolt holes that reveal their life story.
