Our Tectonic® Elm flooring provides a close-to-nature aesthetic for The Garden Café at The Newt in Somerset. Created in partnership with B2 Architects and Tonic Design, The Garden Café is situated in the woods overlooking the Estate’s many orchards and gardens.

The Café is the perfect space for basking in Somerset’s summer sunlight while enjoying delicious home-grown seasonal fare from the orchards and gardens directly below.

The Hapsden Estate laboured over an exacting flooring specification, choosing our Elm planks for their lightness and warmth, opting for our Invisible Lacquer to give a ‘naked’ wood look — a beautiful yet practical flooring choice for a busy café with plenty of footfall.

Invisible Lacquer (Elm)

With its creamy contrasting sapwood and prominent swirling grain, Elm is a stunningly attractive timber. Our Invisible Lacquer finish protects the wood whilst giving the appearance of unfinished timber, elegantly displaying the Elm's natural tones. These extra-wide engineered Elm boards highlight the grain in the board and create the illusion of space — ideal for creating a characterful statement floor.
