Yarlington Lodge is a Regency gothic house, recently restored by Richard Parr Associates in collaboration with The Newt’s co-owner, Karen Roos.
It’s a remarkable Grade II-listed limestone property. However, instead of treating this English country house simply as a period piece, the design team let its formal architecture carry a more playful scheme, setting antique furniture and contemporary lighting against grand rooms, with bold wallpapers, and sumptuous tented ceilings. Design Anthology reports that Roos’s brief was “Napoleonic campaign meets rave.”
We had the privilege of supplying and installing our elm and oak flooring throughout the residence, engineered wood floors that anchor the home’s theatrical spaces while honouring its historic fabric.
Our wide-plank engineered Elm is celebrated for its swirling, organic grain and rich variation from board to board. It brings brings movement, authenticity, and warmth to rooms defined by layered pattern and vibrant colour.
Our Sawn & Brushed Oak pairs beautifully with the elm, and both are finished in our Invisible Lacquer to let the timber do the talking. Cross-sawing marks homage to traditional milling, while the brushed texture opens the grain. The result has the depth and tactile quality of timber that has lived in the house for generations, complementing the historic staircase and rich antiques while keeping the boldest rooms feeling lived-in rather than staged.
Since June 2026, Yarlington Lodge has welcomed guests as an exclusive-use residence, set in 12 private acres just a mile from The Newt, with access to the wider 2,000-acre estate.
